Detroit Radiator Corporation Receives 2015 Richard Crane Memorial Legend Award

October 29, 2015

Detroit Radiator Corporation, a premier manufacturer and distributor of aftermarket cooling product solutions serving the heavy-duty transportation, commercial, industrial, and agricultural industries for 80 years, is honored to receive the 2015 Richard Crane Memorial Legend Award.

Media Invite: The 2015 Richard Crane Memorial Legend Award Presentation will take place at Detroit Radiator Corporation’s Headquarters (15385 Pine, Romulus, Michigan) on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 10:00AM.

The Richard Crane Memorial Foundation recognizes one truck annually for the Legend Award. This past September, it did so at the 20th Annual Richard Crane Memorial Truck Show™ in St. Ignace, which is sanctioned by the National Association of Show Trucks (NAST). The award criteria will often vary from year to year. It is never based on eye appeal only; it includes the value behind the company and the truck. Having two winners was never part of the plan. As a matter of fact, this was the first time ever that the Richard Crane Memorial Truck Show™ had two winners for this one award.

While exhibiting at the show, Brian Miller, DR·COOL Driver, and Craig McClain, National Sales Representative, both of Detroit Radiator Corporation, invited the 2015 Richard Crane Memorial Jr. Grand Marshal, Jayden Gohl and his parents, Tim Gohl, of Canton & Lauren Gohl, of Plymouth, to ride in DR·COOL, Detroit Radiator Corporation’s award-winning show truck, for the exciting "Parade of Lights™.” This scenic convoy travels through beautiful St. Ignace, over the five-mile Mackinac Bridge and back. Jayden, a big rig enthusiast, had the time of his life!

“We just knew that we had to have two Legend Awards this year. Because of Brian Miller, Craig McClain and Detroit Radiator Corporation’s generosity, they not only made Jayden Gohl's day, they reminded us of what the Richard Crane Memorial Truck Show™ is all about. A great family oriented caring event for one and all to enjoy,” said Fran Crane Bernard, Co-founder of Richard Crane Memorial Foundation, President of International Trucking School, and daughter of the late Richard Crane.

“Receiving the 2015 Richard Crane Memorial Legend Award is a real honor. It's a privilege for us to be included among some of the best companies in the trucking industry. Our team demonstrated that we are not only a company that excels at what we do, but more importantly, we are a company with good people, and for this I am happy.” said Randy Pruitt, CEO of Detroit Radiator Corporation.

More on Jayden

Jayden was diagnosed at 20 weeks gestation with severe Hydrocephalus (he over produces Cerebral Spinal Fluid (CSF) in the ventricles of his brain and he can’t properly absorb the fluid) and with only half of a heart (his left chamber was so small, and his aortic arch was so narrow, that oxygen and blood may not be able to reach his limited brain tissue). Jayden was not expected to live and his parents were handed information on abortion and Hospice. If delivered alive, an immediate ventricular-peritoneal shunt implant, followed by three consecutive heart surgeries were to take place.

On July 3, 2008, a beautiful Jayden entered the world 5.5 weeks premature via c-section. He weighed almost 7lbs, but his head alone weighed 4.5 lbs. Sadly, Jayden’s entire head was filled with CSF, with only 10% brain tissue and only 50% of his heart formed. More tests began immediately, and miraculously, his APGAR score (taken 5 minutes after birth) came in at 9 out of 10.

More miracles came on the next day, when heart surgery was no longer required as Jayden’s heart completely formed over night, and his aortic arch opened up on its own. Jayden also survived his first brain surgery, but was not expected to develop nor live a normal life, and was given a devastating life expectancy of 3-6 months. Thankfully, the Gohl’s refused optional feeding tube surgery for Jayden, forcing his body to perform on its own.

In 2010, an MRI revealed that Jayden’s brain had completely formed. Jayden began to take his solo first steps in 2012.

Today, Jayden is an amazing, 7-year old, little fighter, who lives with non-curable Hydrocephalus, requiring a surgically implanted, ventricular-peritoneal shunt. He is post 7 brain surgeries and attends 3-6 weekly therapy sessions. Jayden will require additional brain surgeries throughout his life.

Tax deductable donations to the Jayden Tyler Gohl Supplemental Needs Trust Fund can be made via Chase Bank (800.935.9935).

Event Summary

The event will begin with proper introductions, followed by the 2015 Richard Crane Memorial Legend Award presentation, over a celebration of cake and beverages. Highlights will include fun keepsake gifts for Jayden, and a special guest appearance from Erika Henaughen, Miss NAST 2015. Jayden and his parents will be offered another ride on DR·COOL at the end of the event!

Detroit Radiator Corporation POWERCOOL® Radiator Sales Double Expectation

August 17, 2015

Detroit Radiator Corporation’s Unmatchable Game-Changer Radiator Can’t Be Made Fast Enough!

Romulus, Michigan (August 17, 2015) -- Detroit Radiator Corporation, a premier manufacturer and distributor of aftermarket cooling product solutions serving the heavy duty transportation, commercial, industrial, and agricultural industries, is predicted to end the summer with double the expected sales numbers for its POWERCOOL® radiator.

Always on the cutting edge, Detroit Radiator Corporation was first in its industry to engineer the unmatchable game-changer, POWERCOOL® radiator. Using tried and true bolt-on radiator technology, the company replaced the plastic/aluminum radiator and frame with one integrated bolt-on complete unit. With this, the radiator durability doubled and the 7-8 year radiator lifespan is back. Those in the trucking industry can recall when the plastic and aluminum constructed radiator with a reduced lifespan of only 3-4 years, replaced the bolt-on radiator with a 6-8 year lifespan.

The company-branded, POWERCOOL® radiator hit the market in late March of 2015. Beginning with offering a Cascadia model, Detroit Radiator Corporation now offers three additional Freightliner models. Additional model offerings are slated to follow.

“Of course, we expected to see a rush on our POWERCOOL® radiator come summer when our radiator sales volume peaks, but our sales have doubled our expectation,” said Randy Pruitt, CEO, Detroit Radiator Corporation. “Profitability aside, it is extremely rewarding for us to be able to bring the most sustainable radiator with advanced technology to an industry full of hardworking people spending long hours on the road,” added Pruitt.

Detroit Radiator Corporation Executives Selected as an EOS Visionary/Integrator Team Example for New Book and Event

May 8, 2015
Rocket Fuel: The One Essential Combination that Will Get You More of What You Want from Your Business

Romulus, Michigan (May 8, 2015) -- Detroit Radiator Corporation was honored to have two of its executives, Randy Pruitt, CEO, and David Bitel, General Manager, selected as featured examples in the new book, released in April-2015, titled, Rocket Fuel: The One Essential Combination that Will Get You More of What You Want from Your Business, written by Gino Wickman and Mark C. Winters.

Gino Wickman, CEO, EOS Worldwide, featured Detroit Radiator Corporation in recognition of its successful history with the EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) framework that it established in 2010, and in particular, it’s winning Visionary/Integrator team of Pruitt and Bitel, respectively.

Pruitt and Bitel were also chosen as panel members at the EOS Worldwide Client Appreciation Event, hosted by Gino Wickman, CEO, EOS Worldwide, and held at The Westin Book Cadillac Detroit on April 23, 2015.

(L) David Bitel, General Manager, Detroit Radiator Corporation (Featured Integrator)
(C) Gino Wickman, CEO, EOS Worldwide and Co-Author of Rocket Fuel: The One Essential Combination that Will Get You More of What You Want from Your Business
(R) Randy Pruitt, CEO, Detroit Radiator Corporation (Featured Visionary)

Four company panel member teams; each with one Visionary and one Integrator, provided advice and shared examples on their own Visionary/Integrator leadership roles separately and their roles together, all with strong relationships that work! Several hundred southeastern Michigan entrepreneurs (EOS Worldwide clients) were in attendance and video footage was shot during the event that will be used for future training.

“Without a systematic approach in place, or any prior knowledge of what a ‘Visionary’ or an ‘Integrator’ role even meant, I unsuccessfully attempted to be both. As my company grew, I learned that being both did not work as they require two completely different mindsets. I now successfully capitalize on being a ‘Visionary,’ which defines the way I think to a tee. For me, the EOS Visionary/Integrator framework provides a clear roadmap to achieve better strategy impact.” said Randy Pruitt, CEO, Detroit Radiator Corporation. "We are humbled to have our achievements recognized," added Pruitt.

Rocket Fuel: The One Essential Combination that Will Get You More of What You Want from Your Business,  is Wickman’s third book and builds upon the business concepts of his previous books. Traction, introduces the principles of the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) and Get a Grip, co-authored with Mike Paton, illustrates how to implement it in a business.

About Rocket Fuel: The One Essential Combination that Will Get You More of What You Want from Your Business:
Rocket Fuel: The One Essential Combination that Will Get You More of What You Want from Your Business demonstrates how businesses need both a Visionary and an Integrator in order to get to the next level of success. Visionaries are known for their groundbreaking ideas, but they often don’t have the skills to make those ideas a reality. Integrators excel at implementing initiatives, but they don’t have the foresight or imagination of a Visionary. According to Rocket Fuel, both roles are critical to drive a company forward.

“Without an Integrator to turn a vision into reality, a Visionary is far less likely to succeed long-term and realize the company’s ultimate goals,” Wickman said. “Likewise, without a Visionary, an Integrator can’t rise to his or her full potential. When these two people share their natural talents and innate skill sets, they have the power to reach new heights at virtually any organization.”

A free chapter of Rocket Fuel is available for download at the EOS Worldwide website: EOSWorldwide.com/Rocket-Fuel. The book is now available for purchase in bookstores, and online through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and BenBella.com.

Detroit Radiator Corporation to Introduce its New POWERCOOL® Radiator at the Mid-America Trucking Show 2015

Published: March 4, 2015
Romulus, Michigan

Romulus, Michigan (March 4, 2015) -- Detroit Radiator Corporation, a premier manufacturer and distributor of aftermarket cooling product solutions serving the heavy duty transportation, commercial, industrial, and agricultural industries, is excited to introduce its new POWERCOOL® Radiator at the Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) 2015 (Kentucky Expo Center, Louisville, Kentucky).

Those in the trucking industry remember when the lifespan of a bolt-on radiator was 6-8 years. Unfortunately, this came to an abrupt end when the industry switched to using a plastic and aluminum constructed radiator with a reduced lifespan of only 3-4 years. There wasn't anything that could be done about it... that is, until now!

Always on the cutting edge, Detroit Radiator Corporation has changed the game, by being first in its industry to create POWERCOOL®, a new more durable and sustainable, bolt-on style radiator to replace the plastic and aluminum radiator. The company-branded, POWERCOOL®, will be available beginning on March 30, 2015.

Using tried and true bolt-on technology, Detroit Radiator Corporation has engineered a new way of replacing a plastic/aluminum radiator and frame into one intergrated bolt-on complete unit. Thus, doubling the durability and bringing back the glory days of a 7-8 year radiator lifespan.

"It is extremely rewarding for us to be able to offer a more sustainable radiator with advanced technology to an industry full of hardworking people spending long hours on the road," said Randy Pruitt, CEO, Detroit Radiator Corporation. "We are committed to successfully addressing the most pressing challenges facing cooling systems within the heavy-duty transportation industry, " added Pruitt.

Camera crews from both The George & The Wendy Show and from Truck Drivers Health.org, where Detroit Radiator Corporation is a sponsor, will be covering the POWERCOOL® reveal on Friday, March 27 at 9:30am. Both crews will begin at the Truck Drivers Health.org exhibit (#32010) and end at the Detroit Radiator Corporation exhibit (#32335).

Detroit Radiator Corporation's other company-branded products include the following:
POWERMAX® Charge Air Cooler
AMT™ Surge Tank
Dura-Core™ Core
Revolution Series ERG Coolers™
Ultra-Core™ Core

Besides POWERCOOL®, Detroit Radiator Corporation's exhibit will also highlights its award-winning, 18-wheeler truck & trailer, "DR·COOL" and showcases many of its aftermarket cooling product solutions, brochures, along with awards, sponsorship memorabilia, company history, and video presentations (including a DR·COOL customization video, created by Outcast Kustoms that was featured on the show, Outcast Kustoms on Velocity by Discovery). There will be cool giveaways and fun basketball hoop contests with lots of prizes. Key company representatives will be on hand to answer questions.
